Readers of this third book now join the author as he departs the Upper Columbia River Basin, the Snake River Plain, and the Basin and Range to travel across the Great Plains to the northern border of the Ozarks (Interior Highlands - Springfield Plateau) and St. Francois Mountains that thrust the Missouri River northward). [Book 3] primarily focuses on Katy Trail State Park and City of Rocks National Reserve.
